Ruthless Fed-Ex

I have read and heard lot about Roger Federer, the King of Tennis. I like to watch him on rampage against the opponents. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see any of his matches during the recently concluded Australian Open till Sunday, the last day of championship.

The final was scheduled to play on Sunday and luckily time permits me to watch this all important match. The fight was between Federer (11 Grand Slam Final) and Gonzalez (1 Grand Slam Final) for the championship. Both were at their peak of form before the final. Their semi-finals were one-sided.

Everyone expected a tough match. Yes, the fight for the first set was tough. Gonzalez broke the King's serve in the 9th Game and were at two set points while serving for the Set. Federer bunched back strongly to take the set to tie-breaker and then eventually won the set.

From then on, not looking back for Federer. He won the championship with straight sets. The credit should also go to Gonzalez for his courage and fighting spirit. He never showed any fear even though he has been tasted the defeat against Federer nine times before. At the end of the day it was a Perfect-10 for Federer, 10th Grand Slam title, 10th straight win over Gonzalez.

The power of Federer's forehand, his back-hand technique and accurate drop volley's are definitely a treat to watch. The only missing diamond on the King's crown is the French Open Championship. Hope he will definitely break the Jinx this year.

So explicit...

Recently, Tamilnadu government has introduced new buses with name "Maasattra Parunthu" (Pollution less bus).

Does it mean that other buses are not environmental friendly? Though it is a known fact, the government shouldn't be so explicit.

Dad, I am growing...

It is a great experience watching kids growing especially new born. It gives lots of pride if that baby is your own son/daughter.

Kirthik is now 6 months old and he has already started exploring the adventures of his life. He can turn his body up-side down with no strain. He can't lay down idle at one place even for a min, he has started rotating and trying to crawl. But

Who thought them the step-by-step approach to learn walking?
Who thought them the games to play when they are not sleeping or crying?

I'm not bothered about finding answers to these questions. As a proud father, I am going to enjoy every moment of his childhood...

Letz take India out of this list...

When I was browsing to other blogs, I saw the below information which annoys me more.

"* By the year 2010, five countries (Ethiopia, Nigeria, China, India, and Russia) with 40 percent of the world's population will add 50 to 75 million infected people to the worldwide pool of HIV disease."

It gives a nice feeling whenever I see India in the top 5 of the any list but definitely not this one. The above is just a projection which can be proved wrong if we react now.

Few Info about AIDS:
A person who has HIV carries the virus in certain body fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and breast milk. The virus can be transmitted only if such HIV-infected fluids enter the bloodstream of another person.

Usually, HIV is transmitted through:

* Unprotected sexual intercourse with someone who has HIV.
* Sharing needles or syringes with someone who is HIV infected.
* Infection during pregnancy, childbirth, or breast-feeding.*

HIV not transmitted:

* It is not transmitted through food or air (for instance, by coughing or sneezing).
* Sweat, tears, vomit, feces, and urine do contain HIV, but have not been reported to transmit the disease.
* Mosquitoes, fleas, and other insects do not transmit HIV.

Today is the day...

After an anxious wait for more than 5 months, it finally happened today. Everybody in my family were waiting for this day. Expectation reachs its high whenever I was dressed to leave.

When I was about to leave home to office today morning, kirthik had a strange look at me as I had my helmet on. I took him to make him comfortable. Within a min, he peed on me and drenched my dress. Though this was not the first time, but first time when I was ready to go out.

A moment to cherish, A moment to remember, A moment to laugh...

My best friends wedding.

Today is a special day in 99mx's life. It is a day when my 'Darling' is getting married to my 'Dosth'. I feel happy to see them getting together in their life. I wish them a happy togetherness and a great deal of affection throughout their life.

Apart from their wedding, it was also a kind of get to-gether for us. We were able to meet each other after a long time, many after our college days.

Touch Question.

Couple of days back Government of India has banned airing AXN in India. As I understand from news papers, this ban is because of the programmes "World's Sexist Commercials" that violates most of the Indian norms.

My dad asked me "Fashion TVla kattaratha veda ethula yenna appadi mosama katteetanka?". (What did they show that was worst than what was shown in Fashion TV?).

I know that this is out of his frustration and not definitely looking for an answer. He likes watching some of the programs in AXN like Guniness World Records, Amazing Videos etc...

If this ban has any political background, what to say!!! "Dad, we used to this, we have to live with it." Noone can clean this dirty politics.

What are we waiting for?

Recent controversies over executing Mohammad Afzal made me to believe that we (our government) are afraid of talking any decision what-so-ever.

Mohammad Afzal convicted of conspiracy in the December 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament. In 2004, he was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of India. The sentence was to be carried out on 20 October 2006. I'm not here to discuss his involvement and the judgement. The sentence is now stayed, after his family filed a mercy petition to the President.

More than two years after the judgement and three months after the expected execution date we still haven't taken a decision. If Afzal is guilty, he doesn't deserve this kind of respect. Not just him, but also those who died (Five policemen, a Parliament security guard and a gardener) during the attack had a family.

What respect are we giving to those who sacrificed their life for our nation? What direction are we showing to youngster? In future, will they prefer to be a true Indian or to be a person of Afzal's stature?

India is aiming to send man to moon in 2008 and all Indians are dreaming and working towards to goal of becoming Super Power by 2020. We are also earning a good deal of respect from the International community. We should take some bold decision that are correct with no fear.

In other countries, even a president can be hanged if he was sentenced to dead but definitely not here at this point of time.

Unsporty Sports

Aggression and Sports go hand-in-hand. It is good to have the aggression to win.

Now-a-days, if an individual is not able to win the opponent by his skills, he is attack him thru' his aggressiveness on the sports field as a result of his disappointment / inability.

The below two incidents happened last week that hurt me

1) The ugly incident at the Australian Open tennis championship in Melbourne Park on Monday. (ie) A groups of drunken fans waving flags and set off an ugly brawl.

2) The racist comments passed by Gibbs during the South Africa vs Pakistan test match.

Most of the matches played for grand sport events are relayed live on television. Individual should know that they are been watched by millions around the world and have to behave professionally.

Today, I have read the below in one of the leading English New Paper.

-----------------------
What is the best thing that can happen to sport and to the wholesome enjoyment of sporting drama as a truly elevating spectacle?

Ban national flags from all great sports venues, including the Olympics.
-----------------------

I know it is not a simple solution but will it solve the problem????

Tamizhar Thirunal...

Pongal is a Harvest Festival celebrated in Tamilnadu for four days. Each days is celebrated with a purpose.

A single liner to define each day :

Day 1 : Sankarathi - Preparing to invite the new season by removing junks/evil at home.
Day 2 : Pongal - Thanking the Sun God for its brightness during the past season.
Day 3 : Mattu Pongal - Thanking the Cows for their support.
Day 4 : Kanum Pongal - A day to relax after a year of hard-work.

All these days are meant to share the love with relatives, friends and neighbours. People used to spend most of these days in develeoping relationships.

The definition are changing now-a-days. Youngsters are spending most of their Pongal Holidays in watching new releases or TV programmes. What made me happy is that the culture of celebrating Pongal in villages are not changed yet.

Was down but not Out...

Indian scientists might have failed to launch its GSLV last year, but they successfully launched their 300 crore PSLV (C7) yesterday. PSLV carried four satellite (2 - Indian, 1 - Argentina's, 1 - Indonesia's)

One of these two Indian satellite, SRE-1 will be reentering earth atmosphere after 10 days. If we can bring back this capsule successfully, India's mission of Man-to-Moon in 2008 will be a definite possibility. No other country other than America, Russia and China have done this.

To all the scientists in ISRO, you all made every Indian proud.

First wife is back...

Hema and Kirthik have got my attention for most of last year. In the mist, I forgot to take care of my beloved Meha.

I might have ignored her, but she never stopped taking care of me. Whenever I need her, she gave her helping hand with no regret. Without my attention, she lost her Glorious Look. Even to me, she looks ugly.

Hema and Kirthik are back to chennai and got used to new envionrment. It is time for me to show my love to Meha that she deserved. The first think that I did was brought her back to her old look with which she fainted me at first site.

"Hema, she victors you and no point in being jealous." :)

Being Western...

It is easy to guess what would someone in metro be doing on Dec 31st night. Might be having a party with friends and family at some resorts. Might be firing crackers when the new year begins. Might be yelling and dancing on the roads...It is good to hear that they are enjoying the moment the way they want.

What annoying me is how much they enjoy when it comes to celebrating regional festivals like Pongal, Tamil New Year etc. I see only very few celebrate them. For others, it is just another holiday to watch TV.

When you have the energy to celebrate new year and valentaine's Day, why not you gather the same energy to celebrate your own festivals. If you think that it is an insult or waste of time to celebrate, you are not truthful to your motherland.

A revolution is requested.

Though we dont like, Farmer's suicide has become a regular headlines in news papers.

In Irony, things like pop-corn (in places like Multiplexes, Shopping Malls etc.) are sold at a price much higher than its actual worth. But the people who cultivate them are in debts and committing suicides.

The Lion's share of the profit are being enjoyed by the Mall, Multipexes owner. People who are rich are becoming richer and people who suffer are suffering further.

If this continues, agriculture will get the least priority and our government might need to spend more money on importing food products.

Not just Dr. Kalam's dream, but every Indians dream of Making India a Super power by 2020 will remain as dream.

Sun going Dark...

A month back I switched to "Tatasky" direct-to-home from traditional Cable TV when I was alone at home.

To my good, TataSky is not offering any channel under Sun Banner. My relatives back home ask me what are you watching without Sun TV.

I am surprised to hear that. For them Sun TV is all to watch. In some remote places, they call cable connection as Sun TV. This is the reach of Sun TV.

It may be a coincidence, but making Sun a pay channel after distributing colour TV to public make me a business strategy. To me it looks like the DMK is exploiting the public.
